The role entailed the management of a head-quarter’s engineering and administration team, 4 civil and track works construction teams, a route wide signal and telecommunications design and installation team, 6 major station construction units, a single workshop contract and 13 maintenance staff facilities throughout the 1500km.route. Additionally I was required to liaise with the rolling stock consultants, the independent designers and the client’s operational team. In total the teams numbered 240 engineers and administration staff in Saudi Arabia, while other staff were seconded as required from the JV partners. The project was the construction of a new dedicated heavy freight railway for 32 tonne axle loads with a speed of 160kmh, eventually the railway will form a high speed link to the Jordan border. The project is being constructed under both Designed by the Client and Design and Build contracts.
