About Vicii Kirkpatrick

I’m a fully qualified management accountant with over 15 years of experience in both the commercial and charity sector. I started out in small and medium corporate businesses working in the accounts function having a variety of roles covering both financial and management accounts. My last role included 9 years at the National Union of Students, more latterly as the Finance Director which saw me help to guide the organisational design programme that led to cost savings of c.£3.5million.I founded V Kirkpatrick Limited in 2020 to help organisations gain more insight into their finances. Although I provide management and accountancy solutions, my real passion is being able to use management information to help improve organisations so they can use their resources where they will make real impact. I am able to communicate clearly with clients to utilise this information so they are able to achieve both their short-term and long-term goals.I am well-organised and able to keep multiple priorities in mind while aiming for the best outcome for my clients. Due to my strong attention to detail, I am able to recognise small financial inaccuracies, whilst still keeping an eye on the big picture. I take special care to ensure I understand the needs of every client and I'm always there for them, whether it is during the business day or after hours.I am a non-exec finance director for World Art Exhibitions Ltd and a trustee and a member of the audit and risk committee of University of Manchester Students’ Union. Along with being a fully qualified CIMA accountant, I have a HNC in business and finance and a MSc in Strategy from Manchester Metropolitan University.When I'm not working, I am usually with my Springer Spaniel who loves to run more than I do.

The turnover for the company at this time was in the region of £15m.• Initially employed as financial operations supervisor, I was responsible for the preparation of the monthly management accounts, preparing the corporation tax returns and liaising with the auditors regarding year end accounts and submissions, supervising the sales and purchase ledger functions, preparation of full budgets and forecasts, maintaining the fixed asset register and monitoring capital expenditure. This included line management of 5 staff. • After a year in this role I was then promoted to Finance Manager which involved many of my previous tasks along with managing the new financial operations supervisor, maintaining the bill of materials for each product manufactured and reporting on the variance in relation to yields, sales and cost of sales. • Preparation of the sales budgets along with the sales managers to provide this information to the production manager and ensure that sufficient goods would be manufactured to cover the anticipated sales.• Responsible for implementing a new accounting system across the two UK sites and ensuring that everyone had the relevant training required. • Responsible for converting the Danish subsidiary to a representative office which involved spending time in Denmark to be trained on use of their accounts system, and preparing their VAT returns, intrastats and various tax returns. • Responsible for maintaining the accounts and preparing the associated returns in Danish for this representative office.• Continual improvement and streamlining of procedures, including computerising functions which were previously carried out manually.

I was responsible for producing the specification of the work required to network the offices and then procure the contractors to do the work. In addition to getting the computer network installed, I was also responsible to managing the transfer of the accounts on to a new, networked accounts system.
