About V.A. Eckhoff

I'm a screenwriter and journalist based in New York City.My TV pilot rom-com, The Modern Christian Spinster's Guide to Love in the 21st Century, won the faith-based TV series award at the Big Apple Film Festival and was a ScreenCraft and Made in NY Writers Room semi-finalist. Spinster was also a second-rounder at the Austin Film Festival; a HollyShorts Official Selection and a Faith in Film and Portland Film Festival quarter finalist. My feature script, "The Judas Horse," is based on my three-year investigative series for Forbes into the slaughter of U.S. race horses and wild horses, a first in the U.S. media, and the closing of Dallas Crown, one of the last horse slaughterhouses in America. Look for it on the IMDB. I also wrote "Out of Luck," a HollyShorts Official Selection, about Willie Nelson's adoption of ten slaughter-bound Paint Horses. You can find my writing on wild horses, the underground slaughter trade and public lands in Forbes, Newsweek, Salon, AlterNet and Counterpunch. Some articles you might enjoy: "How many congressmen does it take to screw a horse?" (Forbes); "Forbes billionaires top U.S. welfare ranchers list" (Alternet); "Too Big to Fact Check?" (vickeryeckhoff.com); and "Thanks to me, you can say 'penis" in the Washington Post" (vickeryeckhoff.com).Past interviews include President Donald J. Trump and Temple Grandin.Got questions?
