I come from a very strong insurance background, having worked in various aspects of the industry including claims, customer service (company and agency level), and have actually been a licensed agent in Life, Health and Accident, Property/Casualty, as well as, Securities licensed.I have also worked in the non-profit sector, which included a Chamber of Commerce and later for MIBLN. Always a friend of the disabilities community, I eventually came to be employed in the field. First, working for an individual business owner with a disability; and later with MIBLN, an organization that advocates for the inclusion of people with disabilities in hiring and marketing practices, as well as, including disability-owned businesses as part of a companies' supplier chain.MIBLN work involved educating the business community on the business case for hiring and marketing to people with disabilities, recruiting members to champion this mindset, and then coordinating resources for members and our partners in government and the private sector. The ultimate goal being to enhance the overall economy by improving the employment of individuals with disabilities while meeting the talent needs of businesses and positively impacting their bottom line.After returning to work following a brief illness, I worked as the Deputy Clerk for Prairieville Township in Barry County. I learned a lot about the inner-workings of a municipality, where tax dollars go, and how elections are run. I worked with some exceptional people.Since then I accepted a position with a busy ophthalmology office where I handle the Accounts Payable and a variety of other bookkeeping functions. It has been an interesting learning curve working in a medical setting.Specialties: Insurance and financial services, bookkeeping/accounting, customer service, communication skills both written and verbal, working with volunteers, event planning, working with diverse groups, and training skills
