I am an extremely organised, enthusiastic and entrepreneurial Accountant with over 25 years experience owning and running businesses. My current role as Finance Director for a family owned and run ground protection business keeps me busy, being responsible for not only finance, but also HR and Health and Safety, along with other non core areas of the business.During the 19 years I owned my accountancy practice I helped hundreds of owner managed businesses navigate their compliance obligations as well as make efficiencies for their finance functions and assist with business acquisitions and disposals. In 2015 achieved a degree with the Open University after 7 years of part time study. 2:1 BSc in Environmental Management and Technology. This is something I am particularly proud of as I never had the opportunity to go to university and I really enjoyed studying a subject unrelated to my business life. It has since then been useful in acquiring business accreditation’s and advising clients in related industries.At the end of 2015 the opportunity came along for myself and my husband to build our own home, another project I took on having not much experience. I do love a challenge. I was responsible for finance (of course) and project management and subcontractor and material procurement . Having looked after clients in the building trade for many years I had many contacts to call on for advice. My husband was on site every day , and every day there were decisions to make and problems to solve. From demolition to moving in was 14 months . Quite an achievement !Again I have since used the experience gained here in managing contracts and individuals in my employed roles. Never under estimate the experience gained outside the work place !Current challenge is training for triathlon events in my spare time !
