Her career is one of nursing proficiency, punctuated by progressive clinical opportunities, challenging leadership projects and fulfilling management roles in complex perioperative settings. She held the position of executive director of surgical services for a multi-hospital system in Atlanta Georgia for 20 years and is currently a perioperative consultant. She served two terms on the Board of Directors for the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN). National committee memberships include the Clinical Nursing Practice Committee, the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee, AORN Awards Committee, Board Chapter Visit Committee Chair, the Recruitment and Retention Task Force, and participates in the Retired Nurses and Leadership Specialty Assemblies. Her advocacy activities include serving on Georgia Council's Surgical Smoke Coalition and volunteering in local advocacy events. Having held numerous chapter offices, including President of Suburban Atlanta Chapter, she is advisor to the Board of Directors for AORN Peach State Chapter #1116, and a member of North West Atlanta Chapter. Individual achievement awards she has earned are Georgia Nurse of the Year, the AORN award for Outstanding Achievement in Perioperative Management and Georgia Council Outstanding Perioperative Nurse. Vicki speaks at conferences throughout the world on transformational leadership, surgical facility design, and patient safety. She is a powerful advocate for women’s healthcare education and treatment of ovarian cancer actively serving on the Advisory Board for the Ovarian Cancer Institute (OCI) for five years, and as Vice President of Chapter AB P.E.O. a philanthropic educational organization supporting the international advancement of women’s education.
