Assist medical groups in learning best practice for documentation, which translates into coding to the highest specificity. That allows quality patient care across the board between physicians treating an individual patient. Education to medical groups on ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding, HEDIS/Stars rating and increasing RAF scores, closing gaps in care, which again translates into quality care for patients.

Taking initial planning reports from RNs, which would help create the Plan of Care or 485, discussing patient diagnoses appropriate for use in home care and the correct order in which they needed to be placed, per CMS coding guidelines related to home health, coding oasis items, preparing charts for billing, receiving orders and lab results to distribute to case managers and clinical supervisors.

Receive orders and patient information to document pending start of care or resumption of care. Transfer all patient information into computer, including received insurance authorizations if needed, and transferred data to scheduler for start of care/resumption of care to be scheduled. Also received orders and labs, entered into patient's EMR and notified appropriate nurse for follow through. Reviewed charts for audits, contacted former patients as follow-up, and conducted current patient surveys. Became the back-up scheduler, when needed, scheduling 15-20 field nurses, as well as 5 therapists.

Clinic responsibilities included medication administration, assisting newly diagnosed diabetic students with carb counting and calculating insulin dosages, responding to medical emergencies in classrooms and on PE fields, calling parents/caregivers as needed for ill students, as well as EMS in more serious situations, holding conferences with parents regarding their students' medical diagnoses and needs, as well as filing reports on each student who entered the clinic each day. I, with the help of very involved teachers and parents, was allowed the ability to determine if students should remain in school to complete their day, which very possibly could involve test taking in subjects they preferred not to. My relationship with 'my' students, and their parents, remains to this day with social media communication, as I watch them grow into very successful young adults I am very proud to say I know! :)

Covered classroom education for Lakeland Highlands Middle School teachers who had need to be out for long periods for multiple reasons. Lesson plans were followed, with additional learning experiences brought to the classroom where appropriate. Prepared students for FCAT testing, as well as administering FCAT.
