Developed, wrote and edited content for a range of Friends of the Earth’s publications – including print, electronic publications and new media – applying specialist skills (writing, editorial and environmental knowledge) to help communicate Friends of the Earth’s messages in the most effective way to target audiences. Commissioned, briefed and managed external authors and designers to deliver projects. Trained staff and volunteers to produce content for Friends of the Earth publications and coordinated team training provision to improve planning and evaluation.

Coordinated Friends of the Earth’s education programme and contributed to organisation-level strategic planning. Used knowledge of the National Curriculum in England, Wales and Northern Ireland to produce high-quality published, audio-visual and electronic education resources to promote Friends of the Earth’s campaigns to teachers and young people. Coordinated annual activity week for 11-13 year-olds – engaging 2,000 schools and youth groups and 20,000 young people. Empowered Friends of the Earth’s local group members with the information and skills to work with young people on environmental issues. Responsible for all policies and procedures relating to Child Protection.Represented Friends of the Earth on education at internal and external conferences and to the media. Developed external relationships to promote and increase reach of Friends of the Earth’s education programme and provided regular reports to external trust funders to ensure continued support for the education programme.

Coordinated BTCV’s work in the London Borough of Richmond. Managed a team of two paid staff and four full-time Volunteer Officers to deliver a conservation projects programme to improve the local area and engage communities in their environment through practical volunteer work. Brought in and managed an annual budget of £115k. Developed new partnerships with local government, landowners, funders and NGOs, and created organisational procedures for implementation at a national level.

Designed and implemented an environmental education programme for local schools and trained and managed a team of four education staff to deliver the programme. Contributed to all aspects of the Trust’s work including event organisation, campaigning, fundraising and animal welfare. This was a voluntary position.
