Following a position held as maternity cover I was invited to remain at the school as a permanent member of staff. I was elected to run the school eco council and enthuse and support children throughout the school to participate in environmental missions. I have planned, created and built equipment and learning resources to enhance indoor and outdoor learning environments. Teaching within a thematic style that has allowed children to learn through awe, wonder, excitement and engagement. Created a teaching environment that is removed from learning around tables and allows children to be part of nature. We have been highly commended by visitors to our school and Early Years unit for our vision of keeping our environments natural with a wealth of learning opportunities.

Becoming course coordinator for the level 1 Childcare intake. Gaining experience working with external agencies to support the individual needs of students linking to Looked after children, EHCP’s, CAF’s and safeguarding concerns. Supported in the mentoring of PGCE students. Teaching deaf students and personally being able to communicate through my knowledge of Makaton and with the additional support of interpreters.

Following a position held as a visiting lecturer I was recruited into a permanent childcare and creative crafts lectures position. Completion of my Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning sector. Being assessed as ‘good’ during an internal and Ofsted inspection whilst still a trainee; during which inspection my class profiles were assessed as ‘excellent’ and used across college as an exemplar in identifying and supporting individual learners’ needs.
