The key driver for me is ensuring patients have access to high quality care. The ulitmate aim is to deliver the highest quality helath care services to people in our community.I want to achieve this in ways that are recognisable and achievable to everybody.I have recently had the opportunity to attend patient safety workshops at Ko Awatea based at Middlemore Hospital in Auckland. The workshops were delivered by the most incredible people from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. Very inspirational. But, the workshop reinforced for me that as a leader my role is to ensure that anyone who touches our health care service has a positive experience. My priorities are:1. Ensuring we have caring and compassionate staff and sevices;2. Providing clear communication and explanation about conditions and treatment;3. Building an environment that delivers effective collaboration between clinicians, patients/residents and others;4. Providing a clean and safe environment;5. Enabling joined up care and clinical excellence.
