Over the last 30 years, or more, I have assisted my husband, Bob Prentice, in our South Dakota-based business development firm, Professional Development Systems. My desktop publishing career got its start in the early days of the business, when I began creating classroom materials for Bob to use in his training sessions and discovered I have a flair and a real love for design. From there, I branched out to design marketing materials–business cards, flyers, brochures, and newsletters–not only for our own businesses, but for other businesses and organizations as well.Since the early days, my creative endeavors have grown to include logo and web design, booklets, e-newsletters, and more. Over the years, I have also had many opportunities to hone my writing, proofing and editing skills, writing for a newspaper, drafting copy for websites and other marketing pieces, and helping my husband publish his books.Last year, I embarked on a new endeavor, when I completed training to become a StoryWay™ legacy guide. As a StoryWay™ legacy guide, I interview people to assist them in capturing their life stories, which may then be published into a book they can pass on as a powerful inheritance that will last for generations to com. I am able to craft a series of custom interviews based on an individual’s life experiences, and conduct those interviews, recording them and them transcribing them, to create a one-of-a-kind book they will be proud to share with family and friends. A person’s uniques story will speak life to others and build a legacy that spans the generations, as it provides identity and wisdom to its readers.I am convinced and fascinated by the idea that everyone has a story and everyone’s story should be told.My mission is to help people tell the stories that make up their lives, because I believe the people telling their story will better see the true significance and importance of their life as they take time to honestly reflect on their life stories. I believe the older generation has a vast amount of wisdom and knowledge born out of experience that the younger generations need to know about and I want to be a part of making that happen for families.
