As the year progressed, I took on more responsibilities and learned to hoof pair to manage the lameness in the herd. The following year, I came back and took on the role as Herd Manager, managing & training 2 full-time and 2 part time staff during calving season. I tackled the lameness on the farm as well as managing the newly introduced mortellaro in the herd. Avg SCC was kept ~100,000 throughout the year.

200 Holstein Friesen CowsI started my Irish Working Holiday at this farm, arriving for the autumn calving season. Rearing the calves was my main duty: feeding, bedding and treating the calves. Other tasks included: bringing cows in for milking, scraping the yards, checking cows on heat, cleaning and bedding stalls.
