Supporting, advising, and working with students ages 14-21 who have vision impairments and other disabilities to prepare them for adult life of employment, education, and/or living as independently as possible.

Supported 15 students with a range of special needs, within their selected vocational shops, i.e. plumbing, culinary, dental assistant, carpentry, early education, etc.Facilitated collaboration between shop staff, students, and other special education staff to develop and adapt academic, behavioral, and developmental content tailored to individual students’ specific needs and educational plans.Taught students with mild/moderate special needs application-based fundamentals for adult living, including cooking/meal planning, financial literacy, cleaning, employment readiness, post-secondary school scholastic planning, housing needs, and travel training.Provided 1-to-1 coaching for 3 students per semester in dedicated areas, including travel training, community participation/awareness, job readiness and financial basics.Supported and partnered with 3 teachers and their classes of up to 10 students each, with moderate/severe disabilities, through grant writing, liaising with community organizations for vocational and social opportunities, and providing hands-on coaching for students to support their transition needs of job readiness, community interactions, and social skills.

Responsible for curriculum development and implementation and cooperative learning, within a department of teachers working with students with severe and multiple disabilities, ages 14-22.Annually taught up to 8 transitional students, ages 18-22, with significant cognitive and other disabilities, using application-based lessons in math, reading, activities of daily living, travel training, job readiness/vocational skills, and job applications.Enabled and taught the use of multimodal communication, participation, and engagement of all students.Organized and led an interagency/interdepartmental team to develop a curriculum about hygiene/relationships for target population.Initiated vocational and recreational student learning opportunities on and off campus, including visits to the local Museum of Art and zoo, school-based office work, and running a snack-store for students and staff schoolwide.

Developed, designed, and implemented a program for students with severe special needs and autism at an urban high school.Taught 5 students in a self-contained classroom and developed a curriculum, which included reading, history, math, science, activities of daily living, and pre-vocational skills. Enhanced student abilities in interpersonal skills, language and language development, independent thought building, and task completion.Initiated and enabled community partnerships within the school and with local organizations for experiential opportunities on and off school property, including the local zoo, obtaining simple groceries from a local store, and running errands between offices in the building.Elected member of the School Site Council, which served as liaison between the staff, administration, students and family members. Reviewed and discussed budgeting of the school, hiring plans, and schoolwide curricular plans..Led school-wide staff work group to develop and encourage staff social engagement and ownership in student and community cultural awareness.

Developed and implemented a new program for students with severe special needs and autism at a small, urban high school, where no previous program existed.Created and implemented curricula and coursework for academic and vocational training across multiple educational levels for students aged 14-17.Initiated and designed partnerships within the school and with local organizations for vocational opportunities on and off school property, including Museum of Fine Arts, Best Buddies peer mentorship program, and schoolwide, social integration activities.Provided transitional guidance to incoming school administration after the public school closed and turned into a private/charter run school.

Part of a team who worked with and taught students with severe/multiple disabilities at Somerville High School.

Taught as a long-term subsitute and a classroom teacher for students of all ages (3-18) who had complex disabilities. School was a self-contained, public school for students ages 3-21.
