Storytelling and journalism still are crucial to me and to the world, and so is my work with creative youth in Detroit. So I split my time between journalism and leading a small nonprofit, which makes for long, creative weeks. My work with teens at my social enterprise Mity Nice has led to Mint Artists Guild, which gives creative teens success tools, a summer job, a mentor and opportunities to sell their work. With a tiny budget, we hired 13 youth this summer - and donate 25 paintings to local nonprofits.My writing and editing as a journalist increasingly focus on careers, workplace and individuals and businesses managing change, though my curiosity or my editors also lead me in other directions.
