Assistant Showbiz Editor
London, England, United Kingdom
I joined Mirror Online as a junior reporter and progressed to assistant editor through hard work and determination.I was responsible for running the desk and managing reporters on evening and weekend shifts and during the day when required, working alongside homepage editors and lawyers to ensure the biggest and best stories were being covered in the most entertaining and responsible way.I covered showbiz news of all aspects, including breaking stories such as deaths, births, court appearances etc.Through the job and my own passion, I gained expert knowledge of UK and US celebrities from A-list Hollywood actors to reality stars and everything in between.I utilised social media and my industry contacts to regularly bring in original and exclusive content, and even became a sort of ‘face-of Mirror Online’ by hosting numerous Facebook live interviews - often viewed hundreds of thousands of times.Whether I was chatting to celebs on the red carpet, mingling with the stars at showbiz events, watching live TV or the latest bingeable Netflix series, I was constantly sniffing out the best lines to bring in traffic. For a while, I hosted the Mirror’s In Reality podcast, finding a guest to bring in each week and quiz about their experiences with reality TV.
