Through strategic engagement with volunteers, and environmental and justice organizations across the state, I educate communities about the environmental risk posed by deforestation, develop and build support for legislation to mitigate that risk, and work to create a new paradigm that establishes economic value for STANDING forests. I recently developed the #Stand4Forests resolution, SR108. Based on the national #Stand4Forests platform, this resolution has been assigned to the Natural Resources and Environment committee of the Georgia State Senate. My outreach and advocacy has also resulted multiple resolutions being passed in cities and counties, and in elected officials, and organizational, faith-based, and community leaders throughout Georgia endorsing the national #Stand4Forests platform. Building upon the initial success of the statewide, #Stand4Forests GA pilot program, and expanded upon in coordination with organizations around the country, this national platform has now been endorsed by over 225 organizations with more joining every day.
