As Special Education Department Chair I lead a team of six special education teachers & six instructional assistants that provided specialized instruction to approximately 80 students receiving special education services. Additional responsibilities included processing of all initial requests for assessments, monitoring compliance, professional development within the Special Education Department, communicating concerns with administration for weekly Student Support Team meetings, managing day to day issues, and all things special education related. In addition to department chair responsibilities I was a mentor to newly hired special education teachers. Throughout my tenure at Century High I taught US Government, US History, Reading & Functional Life Skills in special education classrooms. I also co-taught US Government, US History, World History, and Biology.
