As an FE Project Leader, I act as a main point of contact for SUN Progression Mentors based within local FE colleges as a first point of contact. My role is to support and organise SUN induction activities, meet regularly with to review progress, liaise between SUN Progression Mentors and Line Managers on a termly basis to review progress against targets set.I support with planning and targets, providing advice and guidance in relation to data collection, reporting, HEAT, and evaluation activity. I also support strategic plans about how to develop and deliver a programme focusing on SUN specific targets and make suggestions for activities and interventions for Uni Connect students.I Provide support and opportunities to meet and network with other Progression Members and members of the wider SUN team, giving support and opportunities to meet and network with the SUN partners (universities and local authorities). I communicate relevant information and updates from the SUN partnership and Office for Students and provide support any issues that may arise in finding a resolution.My role is also to deliver project work across the region to SUN Progression Mentors in supporting them within their role and developing their skills to enhance their knowledge in supporting with students progression.

I worked with students to support them with their progression onto Level 4+ qualifications post-16. This involves 1-1 careers support and guidance to help support students with their next steps, this would include mentoring and coaching to support the students with their individual career plans, map out their next steps and provide information on how to apply.I was able to organise guest speakers, trips and visits that enabled students to have an insight into their options and career progression. I have worked on many projects within my role to support the college with any gaps within the provision and create innovative ways to engage with students.I delivered group workshops, based on the gaps within the college to engage with students and I offered support to a whole range of students from Level 2 and level 3 courses in vocational and A level subjects.

As a School Liaison Leader I work with all local secondary schools to support students to help them make the right choices in preparation to apply for college. I organise Taster Days for prospective students to come along and visit the college and show them the courses we have available, I facilitate Taster Day for over 2000 students on campus and ensure the day to day logistics and timings are met and students have an enjoyable visit.I liaise with all local school contacts to deliver workshops and support for students, as well as organising staff to attend local events. I build on a great rapport with all staff contacts within schools and I successfully deliver a programme of outreach events to meet the need of students locally.

As a Careers Adviser I would help students currently attending the college with their career choices and post college applications such as university, apprenticeships, and support in finding a job. I would develop a personal programme of short term and long-term goals for students to discover their options and realistically make applications for their next steps. I used techniques such as coaching and careers counselling to support the students and mentored the students within a 1-1 setting.
