My role includes being in charge of the self scan machines and keeping extra vigilant of everything going on around me. Over the years I've been allowed to work on security within my role as I have a good eye for shoplifters. On Thursday when my section leader is on her day off I get to be in charge and guide my team throughout the day to help us all provide great customer service. When new colleagues are welcomed onto my department I get to help train them and show them the skills I have learnt over the years.

I first started out on checkouts where I learnt to give great service to the customers. I was offered the opportunity to work in the cash office where I learnt the skills to put the floats together for the next day and make sure enough change was available for checkouts. I was then given the opportunity to work in price control, making sure prices where changed daily and missing tickets where printed out and put out.

As this was my first job after leaving school I had a lot to learn. My role included clearing tables and washing up daily. I was taught how to use the till and how to give great service to our customers. Over time my manager saw great potential in me and asked if I'd like to learn to how to cook to which I said yes. I was given the task of opening up in the morning and making sure everything was prepped for the day ahead and also closing up at the end of the day and cashing up the till.
