About Vicky Ikonomidou

My interests lie in the development of novel signal and image processing techniques for wellness, diagnostic and security applications. These are some of the areas I have worked, and am currently working in:Image Processing: Brain lesion tracking in longitudinal MRI datasets, with an emphasis in Multiple Sclerosis; custom segmentation algorithms for medical applications; texture analysis pipelines for diagnostic applications with recent emphasis in osteoporosis. Video Analytics: Extraction of physiological signals and motion characterization from videos of the phase and different body parts. Heart Rate Variability Analysis: Developed and analyzed the applicability of entropy-based and general HRV metrics in diagnostic applications and stress and fatigue detection. MRI Physics: Developed novel MRI pulse sequences for improved contrast; optimized MRI protocols for clinical research as well as case studies. Engineering Education: Conducted educational research in team mentoring for user-centric design, and in the development of frameworks for student-led differentiated learning
