I worked as a intern at a preschool with children ages 1-5 supervising and teaching students on the spectrum, with learning disabilities as well as with behavioral issues. I maintained a classroom of 10 children and provided engaging activities that coincided with the stages of development that the children were currently in. I creatively implemented age appropriate calming techniques to help children process their emotions and more effectively communicate with others. I adapted to the children’s needs by adjusting teaching and behavioral strategies to accommodate to individual learning styles and behavioral challenges. I grew in my empathetic understanding in the children’s struggles and emotion and implemented wellness practices to create a positive learning environment.
