VluchtelingenWerk helpt vluchtelingen bij het opbouwen van een nieuw bestaan in Nederland. Als taalcoach help ik een vluchteling bij het leren van de Nederlandse taal. Daarnaast heb ik de vluchteling wegwijs te maken in Amsterdam door samen op pad te gaan.

Stichting Bootvluchteling is actief in vluchtelingenkamp Moria op Lesbos. Hier biedt een team van vrijwilligers psychosociale support aan vluchtelingen. In december 2017 is het Community Centrum in kamp Moria geopend met een school en bibliotheek. Dagelijks worden er lessen voor volwassenen en kinderen georganiseerd in de School of Hope. Daarnaast organiseert het pss-team trainingen rond mentale gezondheid, waarin onder andere ademhalingsoefeningen gegeven om beter om te gaan met stress en suïcidale gedachten. Het medische team biedt medische hulp vanuit een cabin in het kamp. Ze draaien 7 dagen per week avonddiensten en staan ’s nachts standby voor medische noodgevallen. Zonder dit team zou er ’s avonds en ’s nachts geen medische zorg beschikbaar zijn in het kamp.
