During lockdown, I devised, curated and presented a one-hour astronomy chat show each week.The show used interactive software that allowed commenting on screen, thereby engaging the audience and encouraging them to come back for more. In this time, I learnt how to become a ‘one girl TV station’ and fulfilled the role of multiple production professionals, from studio engineer, to presenter, to researcher, to presenter, voiceover, musician and sloth-wrangler. Each episode, I would research and contact three interesting guests and then interview them live. On the show, I would encourage membership to the society and plug the merchandise which sold well as a result. We had a space sloth called Cosmo who developed a legion of fans. The show was designed to be the opposite of the usual conservative space programs, and was loud, lively and lots of fun, with inspiration drawn from Chris Evans on TFI Friday and American format chat shows. Setting up the live stream and making it reliable from a low-bandwidth area of Anglesey was fiendish at times, but I overcame hurdles to produce a slick, glossy, entertaining show that I am exceedingly proud of. As a result of these tribulations I am now a seasoned live stream presenter with a professional studio set up that will make you look and sound fantastic. With my mobile studio, I am able to live stream from your premises or event and create an entertaining show to hook your target market and encourage them to take action. Sloth optional.

Using my content writing, presenting, voiceover and broadcasting skills, I launched an online TV channel to promote the beautiful holiday island of Anglesey, North Wales. I became a well-known presenter and restaurant reviewer on the island, going under the name of Vicky Video. Videos were designed to showcase the best events, restaurants and tourism locations. I also made numerous recruitment videos - with a limited population on the island, competition for talent in the hospitality industry is fierce. I made video job descriptions for clients as an alternative to the traditional bullet point job adverts. One client, a gourmet fish and chip shop, received fifty applications for a kitchen role, after struggling for a year to fill a vacancy. Over the years I worked with many of the island's top tourism organisations, including North Wales Tourism and Anglesey Tourism. Call-to-action videos would start working the moment they went live, with an eager audience sharing clips hundreds of thousands of times. Venues would start to see visitors pouring in within 20 minutes of a video going online. Videos reached an international audience and to this day, people recognise me all over the UK. Clients would experience a surge in till takings, with one restaurant owner stating that her till takings went up ’60 percent any time Vicky Video had been in.’Videos would showcase food, pubs hotels, caravan parks, recruitment and walks. I actually stopped the tourism videos because eating all the free food made me put on too much weight. I made the transition into marketing the UK space sector because space has far fewer calories. I still maintain a base on the island.

My first love has always been radio, and I’ve been presenting since the age of 14. After Media Studies at university, I started work as a copywriter (writing adverts) at Wire FM, a local radio station in the north west. I rapidly gained a reputation as being highly creative and wrote hundreds of catchy, quirky radio adverts and musical jingles. I also became a radio recruitment specialist, writing job adverts that were broadcast on air. Here I realised that many clients struggled to articulate their vacancies in a clear and creative manner. I helped to clarify the role, make it sound attractive and increase the number of quality applicants. Another forte was upselling clients to multi-thousand pound musical jingles and adverts voiced by celebrities. My extra revenue helped the sales team hit their monthly targets. Here I cut my teeth on the importance of call-to-action content – clients invested heavily in costly campaigns, and needed them to work. I won national awards for ‘Best Use of Comedy’ and ‘Best Artiste Performance’ with adverts voiced by Steve McFadden, aka Phil Mitchell. During my radio years, I gained production skills, presenting experience and honed my copywriting and voiceover abilities. All of these abilities now combine to make me an expert-level video presenter to take your space business to the next level.
