At H&R Block I am responsible for implementing FinOps Best Practices in the Inform, Optimize and Operate phases. H&R Block is an all Azure house and utilizes many Azure Services across the organization. The Development teams have full ownership and accountability for their cloud spend.My responsibilities are:- Manage and expand the FinOps Data Platform- Oversee a team of 6 engineers- Design and implement reporting - Policy governance (both Automated and Manual)- Application Tracking- Relationship Management- Cost Anomaly Detection- Working closely with Finance on Budgeting and Planning- Automated Chargeback- Working closely with Architects to recommend solutions- RI Purchasing and Capacity Planning

I am currently responsible for the budget planning and capacity planning of 86 AWS accounts with a yearly spend of around $50 Million. I manage a team of 2, One Data Analyst and one Cloud Engineer. I have made purchases up to $15 million in Reserves Instances , EC2 Savings Plans and Cost Savings Plans which cover ~90% of our compute and DB capacity in the cloud. I am also responsible for managing 143 vendors, contracts, renewals, and preparing budget numbers for Cloud and Infrastructure Services. I monitor Cloud Intrusion, Vulnerability and Application security.
