Vic Maculaitis is the Founder and Managing Partner of i3strategies®, a market research and strategy consultant with niche expertise in the Financial Crime Risk and Compliance space.With more than 20 years of professional experience as an industry leader, entrepreneur, and business operator, Vic has accomplished many feats in some of the most challenging environments.After beginning his career with the US Government in 2002, Vic stepped into the private sector and quickly became a fast-rising industry leader. At 28, Vic was recruited into his first board-appointed BSA/AML Officer role at a $20B bank holding company in Chicago. Vic subsequently held pinnacle positions at Zions Bancorporation (BSA/AML Officer), First Republic Bank (Head of BSA/AML Operations), and Banc of California (Chief AML Officer). At each of these stops, Vic was recruited to lead the execution of remediation and transformative initiatives around the BSA/AML, Sanctions, and Fraud programs. Simultaneously, Vic led the internal investigations of significant public corruption cases, major financial frauds, terrorist financing, and other financial crime matters.Intertwined with his accomplishments as an industry leader, Vic, as a 3x Founder has built both services and product-based businesses in the space. Notably, Vic was the Founding Partner of the Financial Crimes Advisory practice at AML RightSource prior to the firm being acquired by a private equity firm. Vic also served as the Founder and Chief Executive of THE DATA INITIATIVE for four years, growing the Data/Software-as-a-Service (D/SaaS) business from zero to just under $1M in top-line revenue.As a strategic advisor, industry leader, and entrepreneur, Vic has been on the front lines of the financial crime risk and compliance space – helping to shape its evolution. With experience from all angles of the ecosystem, there are not many things in the space that Vic does not bring expertise and/or awareness to.An alumnus of UCLA Anderson’s School of Management, Vic also holds degrees from Walsh University and The University of Akron. Vic resides in Phoenix, Arizona with his wife and five kids.
