Sin responsabilidades directas el cadete de maquina ha de asistir durante un año a todos los oficiales correspondientes al departamento de maquinas, respondiendo directamente a órdenes del Engine Foreman y Staff chief Engineer.

As Engine cadet without direct responsabilities, we must: Participate in company programs such as Behavior Based Safety (BBS), Near Miss Reporting, Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Safety and Environmental Management System (SEMS), Mariner Development System (MDS), and any other onboard training and compliance programs, proactively engage the officers and crew aboard to benefit professional knowledge and development, perform all engineering duties aboard ship under supervision of a licensed engine officer, gain and improve a thorough knowledge of equipment maintenance, watchkeeping, tracing and learning the various systems onboard (fuel, ballast, cargo, hydraulic, and pneumatic lines, pumps, cranes, winches, generators, purifiers, HVAC, refrigerant units, ODM, etc.), participate in engineering watches to learn watchkeeping requirements as directed by the Training Engineering Officer, assist in all engineering related tasks both operational and maintenance, complete Cadet Training Record Book tasks and projects in a timely manner and in good order, active and positive participant in all safety meetings and drills, point out unsafe acts or conditions to everyone on board, stops work if unsafe conditions or practices are uncovered, be able to participate in an Emergency Response team, be effective in relating to others, able to work well under pressure, maintain an appropriate demeanor and appearance this in order to get all the aptitudes needed to complete the academical programme and obtain the maritime engineering marine facilities specialty degree and the title of third engine officer.

As titular technician I was in charge of apply preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance to high performance equipments, generate reporte and execute work orders, bring personalidad attention to clients door-to-door, review and execution of equipments installation projects, electrical wiring, facilities optimization, direct contact with suppliers at international level (angelo po, Vulkan and others) and work appliances such as welding, mechanical adjustment and turnery.
