Our objective is simple: to do better and to do our best. To show that it's possible to do things differently and inspire others to do the same. So we're starting with the sector that's closest to our hearts, surfing and watersports. We want to get things moving by surrounding ourselves with an ecosystem that wants to play a part in the transition we know is necessary.Basically, we're going to develop various solutions (materials, processes, end-of-life disposal, etc.) that will improve the performance and durability of equipment, while limiting their environmental and social impact as much as possible. Not forgetting awareness-raising and information for sports enthusiasts.

The TIDES Lab is born from a personal observation, confronted with many actors of the water sports industry. Activities such as surfing, windsurfing, kitesurfing etc. are in direct relation with various environments and this results in a particular, sometimes privileged, relationship between the practitioners and the ecosystems. However, the practice of these activities undeniably impacts these same environments, whether it is due to the manufacture of the equipment necessary for the practice or to the lifestyle of the practitioners. Today, with this awareness, various actors in the sector wish to develop and propose solutions to this problem. However, they are generally limited by the data and/or technical skills on which to base these solutions.Passionate about the ocean, an avid surfer and a doctor/engineer in materials science, I decided to create the TIDES Lab in order to fill this gap. The objective is not to produce equipment in its own name but to offer a complementary service to accompany and share in order to go further in sustainable approaches, together.

PhD thesis in partnership with ECOTECHNILIN, the leading european supplier of natural fibres nonwoven and IRDL UMR CNRS 6027.The objectives of the projects were :- To study the thermo-hygro-mechanical properties of flax fibre nonwoven composites ;- The multi-scale understanding of plant fibre specificities and the related performance of composites ;- To propose solutions to produce more efficient and environmentaly friendly composite materials made with commingled plant fibre nonwovens.
