I was a healthcare planner and senior designer for the Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital and Strathcona County Hospital projects for Capital Health Region in Edmonton.

This was a period when I took time off the practice of architecture. I wanted to do something different, hence I went into farming. I created and developed a start-up business for job creation in one disadvantaged fishing town in the Philippines. This centered in transforming the town’s underutilized deep-water coastline and swamp areas into a sustainable aqua-culture fish farming operation. The SmithGroup (now SmithGroup/JJR) is the longest continuing architectural practice firm in America, and the one of the largest top A&E design firms in the world. I was the partner in charge of the Asian regional office in Manila Philippines. This office of 60-80 A&E technical staff focused on healthcare, office workplace, cities and communities, manufacturing and other special projects. I was very involved in business development for Southeast Asia, China, the Middle East and the US.
