About Victor Land

Moonshots and return-on-investment are not mutually exclusive! It is my conviction that foundational research can truly be a source for innovation that leads to positive societal impact and economic growth. I love shaping multidisciplinary open-innovation programs and excel at bringing researchers, engineers, domain specialists and end users from industry, governmental and societal organization together around a common interest to invest in the power of disruptive technologies. Currently, my focus is on quantum technologies. My core interest is in bringing ideas and concepts to the level of strategies and actions and into coherent programs, all the while keeping the anticipated impact as a guiding principle. I want to bring such new programs to a mature level, so that everyone understands what needs to be done to execute the program towards the expected deliverables and the foreseen impact. Doing this with the bright and enthused people I meet every day is a thrill. My 11+ years of experience in national funding agencies, universities (of technology), foundational research institutions and national research and innovation programs have given me an understanding of complex stakeholder management, funding mechanisms, negotiation and long-term strategizing that allow me to be effective, while close to a decade of foundational research experience keeps me grounded enough to understand what is real and to avoid chasing pipe dreams.Let me know if you have such a Moonshot-like challenge towards a well-defined impact on the world!
