The Procurement Manager-ICT role reports to the Principal Manager Strategic Category Management, and is solely responsible for the complete end-to-end, source to contract procurement process, including the identification & qualification of the need to procure a specific good or service, through to establishing the cross functional sourcing team, issuing & evaluating an RFP (where appropriate), and conducting negotiations with the & awarding the contract to the successful bidder(s).Achievements:• Successfully managed numerous, large-scale, source-to-contract ICT/technology related procurement projects;• Managed the procurement of the (then) world first Mobile Phone Detection Camera program which included:- Identifying potential suppliers when it was not at all clear that a suitable solution existed;- Proof of Concept testing of several potential solutions;- Conducting an RFP to award a contract for an initial trial; and,- Lead negotiations with the successful trial vendor to finalise and award the contract for the ongoing program. The entire MPDC project team received the Transport Secretary’s Recognition Award for:• Successful liaison with key stakeholders to identify problems & issues with existing Supply Panel processes;• Leading negotiations with key ICT vendors with respect to contract variations; and,• Savings in FY2020/21 of $12.8m on a total spend of $29.7m (> 40%).
The ‘Category Manager, Finance & Logistics’ is one of 5 Category Managers who report to the Head of Central Procurement, & is responsible for the end-to-end management of the procurement of insurance (all classes), banking & financial services, warehousing, lease finance, company cars, crew transportation inc. taxi & CabCharge, travel, accommodation & rental cars, couriers, mailroom, domestic & international freight & share registry & other related services. This role was appointed for a fixed term contract to backfill a vacancy created by the internal secondment of another Category Manager to a specific project.
The Procurement Manager role reports to a RailCorp ‘Category Manager’, which in my instance was to the ‘Category Manager , Track & Train’. The Procurement Manager is solely responsible for the complete end-to-end procurement process, including the identification & qualification of the need to procure a specific good or service, all the way through to establishing the cross functional sourcing team, issuing & evaluating an RFP (where appropriate) & awarding the contract to the successful bidder(s). I was appointed for an initial contract term of 4 months, for which an extension was confirmed but which I did not take up due to receiving an alternate contract offer from Qantas.
Komatsu created a project to reduce their Indirect Category spend (> $400m pa), into which I was recruited to assist as an experienced short term (6 month) contract resource. My objectives included vendor consolidation, increased contract compliance & improvements to the SAP Purchasing Module. The role reported to the Manager Supply Chain and key categories included Forklift hire, Hydraulic Hoses & Pipes, Lubricants, Fuel, Welding Gases, Cranes & Lifting Equipment, Security, Fire Suppression & other Safety Systems, Uniforms, PPE, Motor Vehicles, Engineering Consumables, Labour Hire and Recruitment & Utilities.
