I have more than 25 years of experience in the financial industry. I am Chief Investment Officer of BBVA’s Global Wealth Advisors in the United Sates. Previously I was Chief Investment Officer of Mexico Private Wealth area, responsible for setting the investment strategy, developing new products and supporting the sales effort. I developed and established an innovative Asset Allocation approach. I spent 10 years of my career based in the UK including five as Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer of Javelin Capital, a London based Family Office. At Javelin I led a team of 15 professionals where we managed three distinct strategies.Prior to Javelin, for three years, I was portfolio manager of Goldman Sach’s Emerging Market’s absolute return strategy, which was a multi-asset class product involved in fixed income, currencies and equities. The product traded cash and derivatives including structured notes, options and futures. The strategy was heavily involved in Latin America, Mexico included. I was responsible for marketing to Goldman’s Private Wealth channel, where most of the assets derived.Prior to Goldman Sachs, I worked for Citigroup Asset Management (later Legg Mason) for 12 years. For over 10 years I was Mexico’s head of equities (based in Mexico). I spent the earlier years of my career working for a small brokerage firm in Mexico that gave me the opportunity to gain experience by trading equities and options. I later focused on fundamental equity research.I have broad experience in raising assets and maintaining relationships with internal sales-force teams, consultants and end clients. At both, Citigroup and Goldman Sachs, the Emerging Markets products grew to multi-billion offerings.Throughout my career I have been exposed to numerous investment approaches including fundamental, macro, systematic, long-only and absolute return.
