CurrentInstall, configure, remove and troubleshoot backup/emergency power supplies for sensitive IT and security equipment at LAX and Van Nuys Airport. Install, terminate, troubleshoot and certify CAT6a, Cat6, Cat5, Cat5e copper cabling at LAX and Van Nuys Airport. Install, splice, troubleshoot and certify single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cable at LAX, and Van Nuys Airport. Perform daily checks and PM (preventative maintenance) on day to day operational IT equipment consisting of testing network connection, visual inspection of IT rooms, and analog and digital telephones. Install, test and troubleshoot Wireless Access Points at employee office spaces and public areas at LAX and Van Nuys Airport. Configure and install Network Interface Cards for UPS’s to be monitored by Network Operations Center. Support various other IT groups and systems by installing, testing, removing, upgrading, connecting and powering network switches, routers, Power Distribution Units, servers, terminal paging systems and speakers. Perform copper testing by using Fluke cable testers such as DTX1800. Perform fiber optic testing and certifications by using OTDR testers such as the Fluke OF500. Perform wireless testing of public and private WiFi by using test equipment such as FlukeOneTouch. Work with other communication groups, telephone company technicians, and technicians from other jurisdictions, contractors, vendors and employees from other City departments.
