To this end, I defined the needs and vision of revenue management for Cambria, implemented the plan, and used the learnings to then roll out revenue management practices more widely throughout the Choice Hotels system (6,000+ hotels).During my time, I rolled out various tools to my franchisees to that allowed them to grow at levels they hadn’t experienced before. I tested and rolled out a revenue management program and then pitched it to owners to invest in the subscription service. The results for Cambria were hugely positive: 30%+ RevPAR growth, major leaps in market share performance, and 9 new hotels opened with substantially improved operating metrics.I was also asked to lead Choice’s development of an automated pricing optimization system which became known as SmartRates--a multimillion dollar investment that would feed franchisees smarter rate recommendations and allow hotel managers to focus on providing great service instead of crunching numbers. This was a major initiative involving large 3rd party vendors and various departments within Choice, and aside from the technical development it required significant change management for a successful roll out. Today SmartRates helps thousands of Choice franchisees get better financial results while spending less time on busy-work. -
