I was the first supplier ombudsman in Sweden! My goal in this role was developing and maintaining good relations with, and provide support to, suppliers in business with central purchasing body Adda Inköpscentral. To do this, I managed our "Satisfied tenderer index", providing our business with useful insights on our suppliers' view of our procurement process. Based on the results I suggested action points to responsible procurement teams.As a supplier ombudsman I also got to represent my employer at different fairs - something that I really enjoy. I love meeting people and the social part of this role was really something that made me want to take on the challenge of creating a new role from scratch. I was also appointed acting project manager for a trainee-program. The project was conducted in co-operation between Adda, the Swedish Police Authority and the Swedish Employment Agency, and my task was to ensure our different working groups met deadlines and high quality standards. The goal of the project was to hire three trainees to the Adda organisation, and 1-2 trainees to the other organisations. And we did good - a lot of interested candidates showed up and once the best ones were hired, they thrived within our three organisations. What intrigued me about a trainee-program within public procurement was mainly two things. First, I was interested in working where public meets private, which was something we studied in University on a theoretical level. This was my shot of experiencing it live! Second, I saw it as a great opportunity to learn something new and to explore a lot of different aspects of public procurement, building my professional network.A trainee-role really was my first introduction to the public procurement world. I learned all the basics of public procurement during my first year in the business. I got to experience all sides of the Adda-organisation, as well as spending 4 months in Nacka municipality to gain the experience of working for another public entity. In Nacka, I got a proper introduction to hands-on category management work, with everything that comes with it. I also got plenty of training and courses, including project management, self-leadership, introduction to procurement law etc. For the last part of the trainee-program I also got to work on a really interesting project along with my trainee-partner, Amina. We conducted a study of the effects of strategic partnerships in construction, and made some truly interesting findings.
