I am currently working alongside Colleen McDonough, founder and owner or The Joys of June, as a weeding assistant for her 2024 wedding season. Jumping all-in the first day on-site was a great way to learn the ropes with as steep a learning curve as possible. In this position, I am gaining knowledge and insight to the inner-workings and intricacies of wedding planning. I sought out this opportunities as a way to expand my understanding of wedding coordinating (having previously only working on the catering side of weddings) and deepen my appreciation for the extent of the hard work that is involved in carrying out a wedding. From ensuring the accuracy of a floor plan and coordinating the execution of a timeline, to solving unforeseen problems and delivering empathetic customer service, I am acquiring invaluable experience of liaising between clients, guests, vendors, and the wedding planner to help execute a successful event.

The International Association for Dental Research (IADR) is a non-profit organization with more than 11,000 individual members worldwide, dedicated to advancing dental, oral, and craniofacial research for global health and well-being.Throughout my internship, I will be responsible for coordinating member meeting room requests, managing exhibitor requests, and overseeing the creation and revision of catering menus. Additionally, I will assist in the organization of hotel accommodations, travel arrangements, and meals for the 20+ staff members attending the 2024 IADR/AADOCR/CADR General Session. This event, which will host over 4,000 members internationally, requires meticulous preparation and a cultivated understanding of the host city, New Orleans, Louisiana.During this time, I will also take the lead in organizing and facilitating the shipment of all necessary items from the GHQ office to the onsite convention center. This includes overseeing the logistics and coordination to ensure the timely packing and secure delivery of materials essential for the success of the General Session Meeting in New Orleans.While onsite at the General Session Meeting, I will actively engage with members and other attendees, serving as a key point of contact for exhibitors. I will oversee and fulfill various requests to ensure a seamless experience for all participants.Upon my return from the meeting, I will demonstrate financial management skills by processing and issuing invoices for booth contracts, sponsorships, and other billable items. Additionally, I will address any outstanding meeting requirements, contributing to the overall success of my internship with IADR.
