As Counsel and manager of the Wills and Probate team at Ogier, my breadth of work is very broad in this area. I deal with the administration of local, British and foreign domiciled estates and these can range from being very straightforward to estates spanning multiple jurisdictions and many different types of assets. I specialise in handing the larger, HNWI and UHNWI estates and enjoy the challenges these present.We also draft Wills and Will Trusts for local and foreign domiciled clients (with assets in the Island) and provide advice on the issues that surround their succession planning including forced heirship complexities, mechanisms for looking after minor children and the inheritance of foreign real estate etc.As well as this, I regularly provide comprehensive advice on the validity of Wills from a Jersey Law perspective and any domicile issues.Mental capacity is also a topic that I advise upon including the setting up of local curatorships and the registration of foreign issued powers of attorney so that they have legal effect here in Jersey. I also undertake licensing applications to the Royal Court of Jersey. I offer in-house presentations on Wills and Probate matters and have presented for STEP Jersey and regularly write articles on various topics of interest in this area.
