I have been practicing as a counsellor since 1999. I have worked with all ages and a variety of issues. These include overcoming the effects of childhood abuse, domestic abuse, addiction, depression and anxiety, anger problems, low self worth self-defeating patterns of behaviour, unhealthy relationships, grief and loss, and many others. I am very relaxed in my work and like to use humour when appropriate to put my clients at ease. However I always make sure I am working professionally and ethically so that you know you are always safe when working with me.I specialize in addictions and believe that addiction is not a choice, rather a way to cope with living, with unresolved trauma or emotional pain. My goal is to help my clients be free from shame and learn new less harmful ways to cope with stressful and upsetting situations.I like to draw on a variety of tools, which I adapt depending on the comfort of the client. For some clients I like to work creatively using art or music to help my clients express themselves. My main theoretical models are Cognitive Behavioural therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
