Supported safety initiatives on site, including the deployment of 4E Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs), managed preparation for the ISO 14001 audit, participated in the Safety On-Site team, and planned the annual Safety Pledge Day.Highlights include:-Updated existing 4E JHAs to the 2017 standard and conducted 50+ new 4E JHAs to set a baseline risk score for the plant in partnership with VSLs and associates.-Leveraged DBS Tools to improve Danaher Risk Score from 112 to 94 by EOY 2018 and sustained Crisis Management and Business Continuity Management System.

I worked as a process engineering intern for the Fiber Department. The largest project was coordinating a trial for a new defoamer that required directing representatives from the chemical supplier and plant operators. I also drove the 5S initiative in the department to improve organization and efficiency, which lead to increased ability to track operator productivity. I also supported the 5S initiative by setting and standardizing names and descriptors throughout different systems and documents for consistency. Additional roles included department support projects. I created and updated PI/PARCView pages, flow diagrams, reliable methods, and confined space permits.Skills I acquired include project management, knowledge of SAP, PARCView, distributed control systems (DCS), Visual Basic, and process and instrumentation diagrams.

I worked in the environmental, health, and safety department for GE Industrial Solutions. During my time in Mebane, the site was looking to update and improve its EHS practices and lean manufacturing. To support this, I updated Standard Operating Procedures for the plating and painting departments which had not been updated since 2000 and was critical due to loss of experience in the area. In addition, I created a Brainshark presentation on the processes that could be shared with interested customers. I also conducted the annual hands-on reviews with lockout/tagout authorized employees and led an eight-person safety audit team on weekly audits. To complement the safety audits, I developed Industrial Hygiene Risk Assessments for the Mebane Facility, which had never been done before. This tool allows the site to raise awareness of risks presented by use, handling, storage, creation, and disposal of IH Risk Factors and to understand and manage exposure to them. To support the lean manufacturing initiative, I joined the 5S Audit Team which focused on reorganizing and streamlining overall site processes through biweekly audits of individual departments.Furthermore, I managed a survey, data collection, and follow up with employees on an initiative to gather employee interest to work in jobs in the Asia region.
