Victoria Phillips Email and Phone Number
Vicki’s background could be best described as a variation on a common theme. Though relatively new to the nursing field, graduating with a B.A. in Nursing in 2014, Victoria’s journey into the public health field has been the culmination of over twenty years of family and community development. Married for 26 years and raising three boys, she felt fortunate to be able to stay at home while they were growing up and ran side businesses to help make ends meet, while joining her husband in full time ministry for 12 years. Vicki then worked at Co-op Atlantic and was instrumental in creating a corporate health and wellness program which proved very successful and went province wide. It was at this point that a close nurse friend encouraged Victoria to explore a career in nursing with a focus in community development. In her graduating year Victoria explored nursing options throughout Canada and decided Manitoba was where she wanted to be due to the progressive public and community health initiatives with a large focus on upstream thinking. Vicki sees herself as a change agent advocating for clients and heading strong community development initiatives. Vicki is also a Canadian Ranger, Natural Horsemanship trainer and vice president of the local work site for the Manitoba Nurses Union. "As a public health nurse I am able to bring my many years of experience in other fields to more effectively advocate for my clients/community in order to bring about grassroots improvements to both my workplace and my home community. Nothing excites me more than to be told, "we've never done it that way before". Love challenges, love people...everyone has something to contribute."
