I have been in the healthcare industry for over 12 years. Ever since I was a little girl, volunteering at the front desk during the summers, I knew healthcare was for me. I started my healthcare journey at Sharp Healthcare in 2010 and continued there for 9 years. I helped patients understand diabetes and helped manage their appointments, medications, etc. It was an amazing job! I learned how to have even more compassion for this disease and met a lot of wonderful people along the way. One thing that stood out to me over and over was the lack of knowledge our society had about their insurance policy. I decided to switch careers, obtain a CA state insurance license and become an Aflac Benefits Advisor so I can help our society and fellow neighbors that their are better ways to cope with their healthcare needs. Shortly after, I decided to take a position within St. Paul's PACE, a company who has been striving to become a leader in healthcare for seniors. I wanted to take the knowledge from previous careers and implement positive processes for PACE. I now manage and submit documents to CMS and Medi-Cal for proper enrollment and disenrollment within PACE. I also work with 3rd party vendors to maintain Part D benefits, assist doctors in proper coding, etc. During the COVID19 pandemic, I became a survivor of domestic violence. Since my journey, I have educated myself on this dilemma and inspire to help other women/men to escape their reality and see a brighter future. I am returning to school to become a legal advocate, volunteering my time to local domestic violence shelters, podcast interviews, writing a book and working on becoming a spokes person in this field.
