The UN Foundation was created in 1998 with Ted Turner‘s $1 billion donation to UN causes. I managed the creation and implementation of integrated on and offline communication plans across key global issues – global health, sustainable travel, empowering women and girls, and improving U.S.-UN relations – to achieve UN Foundation goals of connecting people, ideas and resources with the UN to solve global problems. + Created integrated and strategic communication campaigns across a range of issues, including global health and development, US-UN relations, global health and climate change.+ Managed the Foundation’s enterprise brand across 17 issue-specific campaigns.+ Executed press outreach and events, including press conferences and media roundtables with top-tier reporters and Foundation Board of Directors and executives, including Ted Turner, Nobel Peace Prize winner Mohammed Yunus, and former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, among others, and managed production of Foundation videos – including script writing, filming and editing of videos.+ Provided comprehensive project management, program evaluation, managed relationships with external public relations agencies and vendors, maintained department’s budget and managed four staff members.

The Science and Human Rights Program is an internationally respected research and advocacy program that creates innovative applications of science to the field of human rights. As a Senior Program Associate, I helped shape the programmatic focus on transitional justice.+ Helped build the programmatic focus on transitional justice, a then-emerging field of practice and study on how post-conflict societies deal with legacies of human rights violates, secured international partnerships, created and launched the African Transitional Justice Research Network and secured over $3 million in program funding.+ Conducted research, published articles and edited a volume on the research agenda for the topic.+ Led a Congressional delegation to Havana, Cuba to meet with Cuban government officials and scientific community members about travel restrictions that impeded academic and professional exchange.
