I have been involved in varying workplaces from classrooms to warehouses. I am a full-time student & work part-time during the school year & full-time over the summer. My involvement in my local 4H Horse Program gave me opportunities to gain confidence in public speaking, communication skills, organization skills, leadership skills & teaching skills as the older/experiences club members often mentored the younger/newer members. The club members elected me as club President, Vice-President & Sargent-at-Arms.While working in the daycare, I met tons of intelligent, unique kids & families. I was able to help a young boy learn to write his name more legibly as he was struggling to do so. My job as a cashier & sales associate brought forth an abundance of helpful connections & relationships I have utilized outside of work. Many of the regular customers I connected with still stop me to chat & check in at stores or reach out to me via social media to check in on how I'm doing in my new job. I was able to fine tune my communication & money-handling as I was working in this role as Covid-19 hit the US.The position I currently work in as a warehouse employee requires a lot of energy from me physically compared to the other jobs I have had prior. I have to lift heavy boxes, stack boxes on pallets & move those pallets about the warehouse. I have also been tasked with picking & packing the larger, more tedious high-volume orders we send out to our vendors. My supervisor has also unofficially tasked me with handling the receiving & inventory when we receive product. The data entry aspect of the job is constant & an undeniably important factor of the job.
