About Victoria Fine

I'm an award-winning innovator leading from the intersection of media, technology and advocacy to create a more inclusive society and a healthier planet. I currently serve as the senior advisor and lead program strategist for the Census Open Innovation Labs. There, I launched and continue to advise StatVentures, the U.S. Census' first venture fund, and grow experimental data-driven innovation programs from scratch to completion. I'm the co-lead fellowship instructor for The Storymakers Program for climate change scientists at the USC Wrigley Institute for Environment and Sustainability, as well as a trusted digital advisor at The UC Berkeley Center for the Science of Psychedelics.Throughout my career, I've been recognized as a leader in purpose-driven digital content, growth and management. I am passionate about helping huge audiences make sense of the world we live in. I've dramatically grown audiences and content networks at Slate, Upworthy, The Huffington Post, Participant Media, Orb Media and the U.S. Census, among others, and I'm a regular university lecturer on the subject of impact-driven audience growth. In the past, I co-built The Tiziano Project, a media nonprofit supporting communities in conflict zones, which was honored by Fast Company as one of 2014's most innovative companies. I've received awards and speaking honors from the Knight Foundation, Online News Association, the Gracies, SXSW, the Webbys, Adobe, and the UN, among others. I hold dual undergraduate degrees in Journalism and International Relations and a Masters in New Media Journalism from Northwestern University.
