After 20+ years in the creative arts as a singer, songwriter and theater professional, I learned to intuitively asses what is missing from a particular work. My time as a performer and writer was spent working both alone and in groups. While working alone, I developed an ability to stay self-driven and on task, meeting deadlines without outside accountability. In group settings, I focused on truly collaborating, designing, and coordinating projects with my partners or cast. For my own projects I learned to creatively design my own CD Covers, book covers, event posters and personal websites. As a self published author, I refined my research skills, organizational skills and storyboard process in addition to flexing my creative writing muscles.

The things I've learned from teaching are too numerous to mention but if having to choose, I would say it is the ability to "read the room and make adjustments". It's not that far removed from my life in the creative arts as I had to do similarly in that role as well. I also believe that being a teacher has allowed me to showcase myself as a leader and articulate myself with confidence.I’ve developed strong creative problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills. I also believe it's what makes me ideal as a project manager/coordinator. Juggling multiple personality types, skill sets, and deadlines while keeping everyone focused and motivated is a strength I have in abundance.
