Turns out that all those efforts to match Xeroxed pictures with interesting text was the start of something really special for me – a career in mail order retail where great images and inspiring copy still really count.Over the years I’ve expanded my skills to encompass much more than presenting words and pictures. Thrown in at the deep-end in my early twenties, I realised that I didn’t just love selling products, but I was absolutely passionate about finding products that really sell too – in their thousands, in store, online and in print. There is nothing more satisfying than sourcing and developing new ideas, bringing them to market and fine-tuning your sales message across catalogues, websites and stores.In my career I’ve contributed significantly to the rapid growth of new and established direct retail/mail order businesses, have launched new brands and successfully turned around established brands that needed reinvention. I’ve always been a commercial thinker with creative ideas for growth and profitability and have a great instinct for trading. I relish the opportunity to bring new products and brand propositions to market, but I am also acutely aware that the devil is in the detail – and am well-practised at delivering ‘business as usual’ at the same time as pursuing growth.I’m an active supporter of the direct commerce sector and am always happy to share experiences or offer help.
