As CEO I provided strategic and operational leadership to the bureau's team of staff and volunteers and had overall responsibility for all aspects of running the charity. This included financial management, governance and identifying and writing funding bids and tenders along with negotiating and developing new partnerships and representing the organisation with national and local stakeholders. Key achievements: Providing a new strategic vision, improved staff and volunteer engagement and overall team cohesion. Driving significant improvements to bureau governance in particular financial planning and management and trustee board development. Leading the first bureau in the county to introduce the new Initial Check service delivery model increasing client numbers by 20% while maintaining client satisfaction. Successful creation and operation of the largest bureau-led voluntary sector referral partnership in the county which has streamlined the journey for vulnerable clients to multi-agency support and improved client outcomes.

As Head of Public Affairs for one of the UK’s largest energy companies I was responsible for developing, directing and leading the company’s influencing strategy and engagement with political and other stakeholders at all levels. I built strong and effective relationships with senior politicians and government officials across the organisation’s diverse areas of policy interest including consumer affairs and energy regulation, generation, distribution and supply. Key achievements:Developing and managing the successful, wide-ranging and long term political stakeholder strategy that led to a change in energy policy that in turn, facilitated and ultimately, led to planning permission for the first new nuclear power station in the UK for almost 20 years. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to position EDF Energy as a leader in tackling fuel poverty through stakeholder communication of innovations such as the first social tariff and Trust Fund including securing political endorsements and media coverage. Acting as a key adviser and speech writer for the CEO and Executive team on social policy and political matters; writing responses to select committee inquiries and preparing witnesses to successfully communicate in challenging environments. Leading multi-disciplinary teams to respond in crisis situations such as major power cuts including acting as a media spokesperson.

I worked for the IHA, which represented private and voluntary care homes and hospitals, at a crucial point in the development of health care policy culminating in the signing of the concordat with the then Labour Government in 2000 which enabled NHS patients in England to be treated for free in the private and voluntary health sector. Key achievements: Increased organisational membership through designing direct marketing campaignsImproved member engagement and retention through events and more targeted communications

In this role I was responsible for the day to day running of client accounts including NHS Direct, Home Office Crime Reduction Partnerships and Starburst. This included client relationship management including financial control and reporting. Key Achievements:Overseeing the national roll out of the local media advertising for the NHS Direct. Managing the advertising process for the rebrand of Opal Fruits to Starburst.
