I aid students in naming career goals and developing career interests, developing career-related outreach, presentations, and workshops to students and classes, administrating, and interpreting career assessments, and coordinating career events ensuring that the Center’s mission and vision are being fulfilled. In 7 months, I've help 300+students with professional skill development including resume/cover letter writing, graduate school research, navigating the modern-day application process, job and internship searches, interview preparation and career/major exploration ensuring the student is prepared and ready to enter the application process with successful results. I foster relationships in the greater San Antonio, regional, and national employer community for the development of job and internship opportunities ensuring that the university is represented in a meaningful and influential way. I oversee planning of campus events and fairs in collaboration with the College of Education and Human Development and Dreamer Center ensuring programming meets stakeholders’ needs. I manage the Career Closet by developing a plan to reorganize the closet including revamping marketing efforts, establishing a mission and vision for the closet, and initiating the implementation of a new inventory management system resulting in a more efficient and impactful resource for students. I supervised and mentored a diverse team of clerks and oversaw office operations, including communication with stakeholders, assignment preparation and tracking activities, quality checks, data entry work, and shipping and receiving activities so that operations run efficiently. I also recommended corrective action and supplied technical and administrative guidance to leadership assuring prompt, orderly, and efficient conduct of Decennial operations to keep operations on schedule and in proper sequence, including recommending shifting personnel from one operation to another or scheduling times of day worked, as priorities changed. I trained, mentored, and instructed approximately120diverse students (kindergarten –12thgrade) per semester resulting in a high student retention rate and a successful, regionally recognized band program. I managed a $5,000-$10,000/year budget successfully and maintained an inventory of over $1,000,000 with 0% loss. I also coordinated events showcasing students including concerts, fundraisers, special performances, concert tours, contests, competitions, and band social events promoting direction and fostering community within the group. Additionally, I collaborated with administrators, teachers, parents, and the community to empower students to achieve their potential.
