Until its acquisition by Securitas in 2000, American Protective Services (APS) was indisputably the west's and one of the nation's most admired security services companies. APS was known for its strong focus on professional excellence in every aspect of client relations, management and service delivery. This closely-held company embraced a family atmosphere that encouraged innovation and engendered loyalty and longevity, in part by showing that the company truly cared about line security officers by offering attractive jobs, including above averages wages, paid comprehensive medical insurance, and paid vacations. Started and managed an innovative robbery suppression team of 200 employees, all retired police officers, to counter violent "take-over" style bank robberies perpetrated by street gangs across California. Within 2 years it became APS' most profitable division. IPSA International was later spun off and had a 20 year history of successfully completing complex multi-jurisdictional engagements in the areas of anti-money laundering, anti-bribery and corruption, investigative due diligence, and litigation support. Assignments included large-scale internal investigations, regulatory driven remediation and compliance reviews for Fortune 100 corporations, banking and financial institutions, and law firms from 20 offices around the world.

Independently performed the full range of law enforcement duties in a dynamic environment economically dominated by petrochemical production, ranching and tourism. Investigated and prosecuted criminal activity, attaining a 99% conviction rate. Provided physical security and supervised passenger screening for the regional airport in accordance with FAA mandates.In 1983, effectively originated the police dashcam by mounting a video camera & recorder in a patrol vehicle for DWI enforcement that facilitated a 100% conviction rate.Graduated state police academy class with the highest academic score ever attained in all 106 sessions held to that date, and ranked 4th in class with combat firearms. Widely recognized for applying meticulous crime scene investigation techniques in a then-nascent law enforcement discipline.

Significant equity holder, and manager of installations and service for an innovative and industry leading alarm and CCTV company. Provided a niche market service, including immediate response to all system activations with master key access and agency authority to address issues at client locations in their absence. Due to our reputation for minimizing false alarms, Williams Alarms was the only industry representative invited to advise the Pasadena (California) Police Department in drafting the nation's first "false alarm" and system regulatory ordinance.

Paid, college intern style position geared toward criminal justice students intending a career in law enforcement. Duties were directly comparable to today's 911 operator. Served a (then) high crime city of 30,000 residents in a police department with over 50 sworn officers. Processed emergency and routine telephone and in-station complaints. Dispatched and coordinated police officers responding to calls for service, maintained situational awareness of their locations, activity, status and known risks to officer safety. Ran computer and hard copy record checks (licenses, warrants, criminal history, etc.) Maintained a contemporaneous, typed dispatch log of all field activities, and produced typed dispatch reports on all calls for service. Followed various protocols, including notification to and coordination with mutual aid and other outside agencies. After 18 months in position was selected to be the sole trainer for new dispatchers, and coordinator of an annual city-wide, door-to-door dog licensing canvass, supervising temporary employees.
