Develop user-friendly tools to predict horizontal and vertical transmissions of vancomycin resistance within E. faecium bacteria responsible of nosocomial infections.

Develop new tools and approaches to identify biosynthetic gene clusters and uncover novel natural products in the human microbiome and beyond. To further connect them to specific molecules and phenotypes.

Our main objective is to correlate taxonomic markers and whole microbial genomes with complex diseases by characterizing the composition and the function of the gut microbiome in order to maintain human gut homeostasis. To do so, we use bioinformatics including metagenomic approaches.

I was part of the María Ángeles Calvo group. I was in charge of doing basic research and analyzing samples. comparative study of different strains of Listeria. One of the projects I was involved in was entitled “Comparative study of different strains of Listeria”. My work included analyzing the morphology of several Listeria strain colonies grown in different mediums and analyzing the bacteria dynamics' after inoculating it on minced meat in order to develop tools to differentiate pathogenic strains (Listeria monocytogenes) from others.
