Ever since I was a little kid, I was always interested in learning how things worked. I would take apart all sorts of things, broken or not, to see if I could figure out how they worked and if I could fix them. As a teenager this curiosity only grew. I would burn through books and take classes in as many subjects as I could. I would take classes in cooking, automotive technology, video editing, independent study art classes, etc. I thrived when I was challenged while learning new things. Once it came time to pick my major, I knew that I had to find a career that would be challenging and would allow me to work in different industries as my career progressed. When I looked into mechanical engineering, I immediately knew that it would be a perfect fit.As I progressed further and further into my major and my technical skills and knowledge grew, I felt empowered in my hobbies and personal life. I was applying this knowledge into my hobbies and improving not only as a person but as an engineer. When I made homemade ramen, I would record as much data as I could and only tweak a couple of variables at a time (i.e. ingredients to finished soup ratio, cook time, temperature, etc.). When I picked up coffee roasting as a hobby during the COVID lockdown last summer, I decided to take the popcorn popper I used for coffee roasting and integrate an Arduino board into the wiring so I could control the temperature and roast speed. My passion for engineering, problem solving, and learning has grown tremendously.I want to take this passion, coupled with all the technical expertise I've gained during my studies and expand on it further through my professional career.
